Deadboy & Benga Reviews

My my we have been busy.... Where to start with this hectic first quarter of the year for dbe. Well we'll go from start to finish as usual shall we. The year kicked off with our Secret Party with Numbers rascal Deadboy at the bar in-progress Newshouse which had had its 's' ripped off on the facade of the building perhaps ironically renaming it New house. Which also ironically was sort of the musical vibe of the night from the off. We had a superb selection of vinyl treats to kick us off leading into a more upbeat tribal territory from our trusty residents. Deadboy was sandwiched in between and played a really upfront set filled with plenty of new mateiral aswell as some classics. The crowd was buzzing all night and it all lent well to the subtle ambience and intimate vibe of the room. The 250 that attended all had a great night and one could almost be forgiven for forgetting that we were in Loughborough when the night was over.

The following week then it was hard to imagine that we'd play host to a full capacity Echos crowd with one of dubstep's forefathers and venue sell-out act Benga. From the off both rooms were heaving and played host to some of the heaviest music we've heard for a long time, and trust us running Dub-Boro we've heard alot of it! Even though the music was full-throttle the vibe never got too intense mainly thanks to our handy second room where a more mellow soundtrack was on hand later in the night. But the main act really pulled out all the stops. Benga was exicting, fresh and pulled out some ridiculous rhythms for our busiest and most up for it crowd yet. Slap bang in the middle of his tour, the man was intent on creating chaos for the Midlands and left alot of happy customers begging for more by the end. Luckily our main man Pasquale happily stepped up after with a top notch selection and to our knowledge played about 3 encores at the end of the night!
