dbe presents: JAKWOB & XXXY - Thursday 19th May
Ok ya'll, abit of a bumper post this one so listen up good! After an Easter break that has stirred those summer vibes inside dbe, we couldn't help but get carried away and make sure that the summer feeling carries on through the night this term. And what better way to keep things fresh and continue those vibes to the early hours than our old friend JAKWOB & LE11 debutant XXXY.
After he named the final 'dub-boro' party in June as one of his favourite parties of the year, the feeling was mutual and we couldn't wait to get him back to grace the decks in Loughborough yet again... JAKWOB rolls back into town bringing his unique party smashing style blending up hip-hop, electro and of course a healthy dose of bass to make you wobble!
Keeping things fresh and making his LE11 debut, man like XXXY joins the party after setting the scene on fire over the last couple of years with his productions and DJ sets alike. This man is solely responsible for some of the best tunes to come out of the underground over the last couple of years. Productions such as 'Know You', 'Blue Flashing Lights' and of course 'Ordinary Things' have ripped up dancefloors up and down the country, so we thought it best we got ourselves a bit of the action. This is not one to be missed!
And lets not forget our resident party smashers will be out in full force for your aural pleasure, with PASQUALE, SAMIAD, MIKE MASES & SK offering more than ample support and getting things moving on the dancefloor!
Jakwob's 5 Min Minimix
XXXY - Ordinary Things
Advanced Tickets for this are only £5, an absolute steal. Our last event with Shy FX sold out on the door so do yourself a favour and make sure you get on this early! They are available online now: RA
Tickets at The Orange Tree and our other LE11 outlets soon come, hold tight!

dbe presents: Funny Festival Frolics
So here at dbe HQ we are looking forward to the festival season, the season that brings many of us together to enjoy music, laugh and become general nuisances. We have decided to look at our top 5 funniest festival moments that we can find across the net.
Coming in at number 5 really goes to show that Britain doesn't have talent...
At number 4 we see two guys that really wish they'd listened to their friends when they suggested a pop up tent...
Falling into the number 3 spot comes this fellow,
In at number 2, shows that Kings of Leon heavy festival schedule was getting to them a little...
And the top spot goes to a true forward thinking party starter...

Tune For Tuesday: Psychemagik Mix for Annie Nightingale
Broken up for Easter yet? Well, we here at dbe are still working hard showing you the best the music biz has to offer. Not only are we digging Moombahton aswell as a whole host of other crazy sounds, the faithful of you will remember Pasquale & SK's 2000 & Disco mix a while ago now. Not only is another edition coming soon, we have this great mix from Psychemagik (who's 'Everywhere' edit is smashing up every single venue (Pasq's last song at SHY FX!)) who appeared not long ago at all on Annie Nightingale's radio show. The mix navigates grooves, disco, funk and house in little under half an hour. A SERIOUS appetiser for Pasquale & SK's incoming mix... ;)

Pasquale's Moombahton Mayhem
Yet another new genre akin to reggaeton, "Moombahton" although sprouting out of D.C. belongs almost exclusively to the Web (in particular soundcloud).
Thick, spread-out bass lines, dramatic builds and a two step pulse with quick drum fills is what characterizes the sound. Sometimes, there are ravey synthesizers or even acid lines. Occasionally there are acappella rap samples. Mostly it permeates a reggaeton/Latin flavor, with a side order of heavy European influence. But whatever you say it is, it certainly is a new way to bounce.
An offspring of the immense 'culture-hopping' taste that music so often brings to the table, 'Moombahton' distinctly has alot of airmiles, taking influence from all over the globe. And that's what makes it so refreshing. Even though tempos are way down to 100bpm sometimes the energy is still there.
So our main man Pasquale has dipped his toes into the Moombah waters and come out of the pool with a fresh new mix to try and teach you Loughborough kids what it's all about. Get ready for something different with an altogether global flavour!

Back to the grind...
We can't say we don't treat you... Last weeks triple venue bash was a true success. You've all surely now just about recovered from it and we can say that it was one of the best nights we've ever hosted as a dbe. We sure kept ourselves busy and their was alot of moving about but all in all we've heard all positive feedback so we are very happy you enjoyed yourselves and the great acts you saw. For now though it's back to business and next up is the Detonate Indoor fest which we'll be reminding you about again when you come back from your Easter hols. In the meantime enjoy this great slice of house backed with one of our favourite undiscovered 2-step tunes of the moment. We know nothing of 'Dorisburg' and their stonking tune 'Mima' but only 2000 plays in 9 months seems criminal. Give it a listen, it's like Jamie XX playing at sunrise.
Aniara 02: Dorisburg - Sinai Hypnosis by Aniara Recordings
More great tunes here.
Have a good break!
