Are you Mike Mases?

We first heard from young Mike after our first party when he starting bugging us to play at the next. A couple of recommendations and a mixtape later, he was part of the crew. Making his debut on ‘The Magical Mystery Tour’, he has been an ever present in our line-ups since. From warming up for Rusko to taking over control of the decks from Bar9, Mike’s no nonsense style and his ear for big tunes has helped push the night further than we could have imagined.

“I first got into the scene with DnB about 10 years ago on the back of the Roni Size movement, and was on and off until about 2005 when I got back into it in a big way. Since then been going to all the club nights and even trying some producing at one point, but gave that up pretty quickly when I discovered I was pure shit. Got into dub for the first time around 2007 when labels like Tempa and DMZ had established themselves from obscurity touting heavyweights such as Benga, Loefah, and Mala. During that year I also started learning how to mix using my mates vinyl, I was still way too broke to afford my own setup, but carried on anyway mixing mainly DnB at the time.

In 2008 after scrimping together every penny I had, I finally managed to get my first setup, giving me an opportunity to start getting demos out and playing clubs. I've been with Dub-Boro now from their second show after I came to the first and fucking loved it. Of all the places I've played now, I feel like the best nights are still the Dub-Boro ones. I challenge anyone to find a night with more athmosphere! I'll be seeing all you boys and girls at the next night!”

Welcome

Welcome to Dub-boro’s brand new blog.

Basically we have set this blog up for you to get all the latest info and going ons without having to rely on Facebook. We will still be setting up our events on the site but this gives us a chance to get things off our chest in a more personal manner.

In the next few weeks we will be profiling our residents, releasing details of our October party and keeping you in the loop with what is going on around our ends this summer. Half of Dub-boro is out in LA at the moment, scouting the latest talent from the West Coast. Such is our dedication to putting on the best parties in our town we like to call home, Loughborough.
